Conditions of Carriage

Standard Conditions of Carriage

These Conditions of Carriage set out the terms that govern the relationship, responsibilities and liabilities as between the Passenger and the Carrier and are BINDING ON THE PARTIES. The Passenger has entered into a Passage Contract with an Organiser and these conditions have been incorporated into the Passenger’s contract with the Organiser. These Terms and Conditions of Carriage will also apply where the Vessel is being used as a floating hotel whether or not there is a Passage Contract and whether or not there is any carriage.

You must carefully read these conditions of carriage which set out your rights, responsibilities and limitations to make claims against the Carrier, its servants and/or agents. The Carrier’s liability is limited as set out in Clauses 22 and 23.

Health and Medical Requirements

Disabled Guests and Guests with reduced mobility are referred to the Booking Conditions.

The Guest warrants that they is fit to travel by sea and by air and that their conduct or condition will not impair the safety or convenience of the vessels, aircraft and/or the other Guests.

At the time of booking, any Guest with a condition that may affect fitness to travel, or any other special need, is asked to provide full details by filling in the appropriate form, and could be requested to submit a doctor’s certificate prior to booking.

The Company can refuse the booking or the carriage of any Guest who is deemed to be unfit for travel or whose condition may constitute a danger to themselves, the vessel, aircraft and/or other Guests on the grounds of safety.

Any specific transport and/or lodging and/or assistance needs must be communicated at the time the reservation is made, and are subject to availability. Ships are not equipped with specialised rooms/equipment/medical assistance.

MSC Cruises is not in any way responsible for any consequence resulting from a Guest’s condition, whether or not the latter is evident. No refund or indemnity is owed to any Guest who cannot begin or continue the trip due to their own condition.

Pregnancy

Pregnant women must, at the time of booking, produce a medical certificate from a doctor confirming the week of pregnancy and their fitness to travel on board a cruise ship for the period of the cruise and for the actual itinerary. In any case, MSC Cruises cannot accept a booking by, or carry, any guest who will be 24 weeks pregnant or more by the end of the Cruise.

Sexual Health

MSC Cruises stocks condoms, pregnancy tests and lubrication. The morning after pill is available on prescription.
What to wear onboard

Please make sure you pack appropriate clothing for the various activities you will undertake during your cruise, such as parties, dinners, sports and shore excursions.

- Daytime Attire: casual wear is recommended for daytime attire. Shorts and T-shirts are permitted.
- Evening Wear : a more polished look is recommended for evening wear when dining in the Main Dining Rooms and Specialty Restaurants and while enjoying the entertainment in the theater, bars, and lounges. Collared shirts, tailored pants or shorts, skirts, and dresses are suggested. Layers and a light jacket or sweater are suggested for cooler nights and in the ship’s air-conditioned public areas.
- Gala Night: on Gala Night, dress to impress! Whether that means a tuxedo, suit and tie, evening gown or cocktail dress, or perhaps it’s your very best jeans and polo shirt, your attire should fit your own level of elegance. The only thing required is your smile.
- Dress Restrictions : specific restrictions may be enforced by onboard staff members including restaurant hostesses and management. At no point is swimwear allowed in any formal dining venue for any meal, including breakfast and lunch. Shorts, flip flops, and tank tops are not allowed for Evening. Wear or Gala Night in the Main Dining Rooms, Specialty Restaurants, or MSC Yacht Club. T-shirts are not allowed to be worn for Gala Night. Dress code rules that are posted outside the buffet should be followed.
- We organise various daytime and evening Theme Parties on board. You may wish to bring 60s and 70s floral gear for the Flower Glory Party, white clothing for the White Party, and something green, white and red for the our MSC Little Italy entertainment.
- For sports lovers, gym shoes and tracksuit are must-haves when using our cutting-edge gym and attending yoga and dance courses, where available.
- We also recommend you bring a pullover or shawl to help with the changes in temperature between the air-conditioned interior of the ship and the deck areas.
- For shore excursions, which may include visits to religious sites, we advise that appropriate clothing be worn (covered knees and shoulders, no low-cut tops).
- For cruises sailing towards the Svalbard islands and Polar areas, please ensure you have adequate polar clothing.

Electrical Appliances & Voltage

Electricity on board all ships is supplied at a voltage of 110/220 V in the cabin. Guests may request electrical outlet adapters from the Information Office.

Please note that no heat-generating devices (like electric kettles, hair straighteners, bottle warmer for babies, electric blanket, etc.) are allowed on-board. All cabins are equipped with a hair dryer, and baby bottle warmers are available throughout the ship.
Currency on Board

For cruises in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Antilles, Dubai, the Emirates and Oman, as well as MSC Grand Voyages departing from Europe, the on-board currency is the Euro (€).

For cruises in the Caribbean, South America and South Africa, as well as MSC Grand Voyages going to Europe and to Australia, the on-board currency is the US Dollar ($).
Animals

No animals are allowed on board, apart from recognised assistance dogs.

Bringing assistance dogs on board is, in any case, subject to approval by the company and must be requested by the Guest when booking.
Smoking Policy

In line with global standards, smoking areas on board are fewer than non-smoking areas and are indicated by signage and ashtrays.

Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted in cabins, on cabin balconies and anywhere not expressly indicated by signage and ashtrays.

The Company reserves the right to levy a fee should passengers be found smoking in non-designated areas of the vessel. Repeatedly smoking in non-smoking areas can ultimately lead to disembarkation.

We remind you that throwing cigarette butts or anything else overboard at sea is strictly prohibited as it may seriously put in danger safety at sea.

Littering

We ask our guests to not to throw anything into the sea and to work with us to safeguard the sea, marine life and the ecosystem.

Safety on Board

A cruise isn’t just one of the most luxurious and relaxing ways to see the world, it’s also one of the safest. That’s because every cruise ship has to be built, equipped and operated in accordance with the strict requirements of the international maritime treaty known as the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention, developed by the International Maritime Organization, the UN agency responsible for shipping.
As a result, for example, all cruise ships must have regularly-checked lifeboats, life rafts and life preservers for every person on board, plus a specified minimum additional capacity.

The ultramodern ships in the MSC Cruises fleet go substantially above and beyond what is required, carrying backup mechanical, navigational and safety provisions.

Insurance

MSC Cruises recommends that every passenger undertakes an adequate insurance policy which covers them sufficiently from the time the holiday has been confirmed as booked to the end of the cruise.
