Safety, Security & Code of Conduct

BEFORE WE DEPART, THERE WILL BE A COMPULSORY EMERGENCY DRILL (or BRIEFING, if you embark in a secondary port)
In accordance with the international Convention for the Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS), you are all required to take part in the emergency drill, where you will learn the correct way to put on your lifejacket and the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency.

CHILDREN 0-12 YEARS
If you are travelling with infants or children below the age of 12 years, on embarkation they will be provided with an ID wristband which must be worn for the entire duration of the cruise. In the unlikely event of an emergency while your children are involved in children’s club activities, our staff will escort them to the Children’s Pick-up Area where they will wait for you to arrive and proceed with them to your Muster Station/Assembly Station.

SECURITY PROTECTION
Guests are protected by a comprehensive system of security, such as the MSC Cruises Access Control and Screening System, which requires proof of identity to access with tickets and on a pre-approved list. Also all luggage must pass through strict check-points, cabins are protected by locks and individually equipped with safe boxes, public areas are monitored by cameras, and highly trained Ship Security Officers continuously patrol the ship and are on emergency call 24/7.

CODE OF CONDUCT
We want every Guest to have a truly enjoyable cruise experience. Therefore, MSC Cruises does not tolerate any behavior affecting the comfort, health, safety, and security of other Guests or our crew. Please refer to the contract conditions for more details on this important policy.
Languages Spoken on Board

The company uses six main languages for its communications: English, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. The order in which these languages appear is determined exclusively by the number of guests in each language group as a proportion of our total guests.

The cabin information booklet and other printed material used on board are available in different versions for each of the six languages listed above. The order of the languages used in our menus changes depending on the area of the world in which each ship is located.
Daily Programme

Each evening a detailed program for the following day will be delivered to your cabin. It contains full information on the activities and entertainment to be presented by the entertainment staff.

The Daily Specials section, delivered to your cabin each day, provides a guide to shopping on board, outlining the special offers and promotions available the following day.
The Hub – Photo & Digit@l

Photography
An on-board Photo Service is available throughout your cruise. Professional photographers will capture the highlights of your cruise both on board and ashore, and record anniversaries, weddings, quinceañeras, and other special moments. You can view their work at your leisure in The Hub – Photo & Digit@l. The Hub Manager will also be happy to discuss any specific requirements you may have. Portraits
Our photographers can also create portraits of you and your family or friends using a variety of high quality studio backgrounds or setting up at key iconic locations throughout the ship, such as the Grand Staircase, The Bridge of Sighs or the Swarovski Staircase. Discover all the unique photo spots on board our fleet. No appointment is required. All portraits will be displayed in The Hub – Photo & Digit@l and are available for you to purchase during the cruise.

Retail products
A wide range of products to satisfy all your photographic and video needs can be purchased in the Photo Gallery. As well as memory cards, batteries, and other accessories, there is a wide selection of digital cameras and video cameras at duty free prices. Our photo team is available to offer advice, answer your questions and help you select the right equipment for your needs and budget.

Can i purchase photos after the cruise?
Yes, you can purchase the photos you’ve made while on board with our professional photographers on our dedicated My MSC Photos website.
Internet Access

Is there wi-fi on board?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available on board all of our ships. For additional information click here.
Sunbeds

Sunbeds are available at no charge to Guests. They cannot be booked, and guests are kindly requested not to occupy deck-chairs and sunbeds with personal items during any long absences (more than 30 minutes). Beach towels are available in the cabins. These should be returned in cabins after use. Unreturned pool towels may be charged to the onboard accounts of guests.

The Exclusive Solarium on the top deck of each ship offers a private enclave of relaxation. Spa, jacuzzi and bar services are also provided in the Exclusive Solarium area on some ships.
On board payment

We have recently implemented a new Onboard Payment System on our fleet.

After embarking and collecting the Cruise Card from your cabin, You should activate it for onboard purchases by self-registering your credit/debit/prepaid card at one of the Cruise Card Activation Points
You can do this independently, at any time from embarkation until 11:00pm the following day, at any of the Cruise Card Activation Points located around the ship. These new devices let you register your card simply, rapidly and securely. Please note that you will be asked to enter the PIN number.
Alternatively, you can leave cash deposit at the Reception – Guest Service.
You can settle your final bill in any of the following three ways:

- by credit card
The following credit cards are accepted: Visa, , MasterCard, Diners, JCB, Discover and American Express.
If you choose to pay by credit card, your account will be closed automatically at the end of the cruise, so there is no need to go to the Reception – Guest Service.

- by debit or prepaid card
you should make sure that your debit/prepaid card is enabled for use abroad.
The following debit cards are accepted: Maestro, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, MasterCard debit
Any amount debited to your card and not spent during your cruise will be reimbursed in cash at the Reception - Guest Service on the final morning before disembarkation.

Please note that personal cheques are not accepted.

For cruises in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Antilles, Dubai, the Emirates and Oman, as well as MSC Grand Voyages departing from Europe, the onboard currency is the Euro (€).

For cruises in the Caribbean, South America and South Africa, as well as MSC Grand Voyages going to Europe and to Australia, the onboard currency is the US Dollar ($).

Safety Guide: How to report a crime

To report any missing person or criminal activity while on board, we recommend to immediately dial Tel 99 for prompt assistance (Reception – Guest Service).

For a missing U.S. national and serious felonies, as per the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2010 (homicide, suspicious death, kidnapping, assault with serious bodily injury, sexual assaults as defined by federal laws, firing or tampering with the vessel, or theft of money or property in excess of $10.000) the incident must be reported to the F.B.I. as soon as possible and to the U.S. Coast Guard, see the following contact numbers:

These requirements apply to incidents in U.S. waters, or on the high seas or in foreign waters if the assailant or victim is a U.S. national, where the F.B.I. can assert jurisdiction. Each of the nations visited and the vessel’s nation of registry may also impose additional requirements. MSC Cruises reserves the right to report any criminal allegations to any law enforcement.
