On the evening of December 21st 2017, after a 21 day trans-Atlantic crossing, the MSC Cruises flagship Seaside, the ship that follows the sun, was named in a glittering, star-studded ceremony in Miami.

SOPHIA LOREN

Italian screen legend Sophia Loren was born in Rome and grew up in Naples. She began working at a young age as a character in photo-romance magazines and fought hard to win her first small roles in films. From there her talent and beauty made her an Italian and international icon, known and admired all over the world. Considered the most popular Italian actress of all time, she has won numerous awards, including an Oscar for her role in La Ciociara (Two Women). Loren is godmother to the entire MSC Cruises fleet.

ANDREA BOCELLI

A mellow and recognizable voice like a signature, which resounds in over eighty million records, Andrea Bocelli has been declared everywhere in the world the testimony of the highest Italian vocal tradition. A record holding artist, of concerts in front of huge audiences, he beat all disco records. He has always been committed to spreading messages of positivity and hope at a global level, and in supporting social causes with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation. During the celebration, Andrea Bocelli also performed with the children's choir "Voices of Haiti".

RICKY MARTIN

A multiple GRAMMY and LATIN GRAMMY winner, Ricky Martin is the leading Latin Music figure of his generation - beloved by fans worldwide for his instinctive understanding of rhythm, passion for performing, and equal compassion for giving. Declared “an international pop icon and Latin Music’s Global Ambassador” by Billboard, Martin has been the recipient of dozens of prestigious international awards saluting both his career achievements and far-reaching philanthropic efforts.

MARIO LOPEZ

Mario is the two-time Emmy winning ost of EXTRA, a nationally syndicated daily entertainment show. Not only does Lopez have a proclivity for the entertainment industry, he is also an avid sports fan. Lopez has also launched a YouTube channel called The Lopez Family. Created alongside Awestruck, the channel features his wife Courtney, their two children, and two dogs. Even with all his other ventures, Mario has a New York Times bestseller cookbook, Extra Lean and his own nationally syndicated radio show “On with Mario Lopez"

DAN MARINO

Dan Marino is a legendary NFL superstar widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Marino played for the Miami Dolphins from 1984-2000. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and in 2014 he returned to where he’d played his entire career, the Miami Dolphins, this time as a special adviser. His presence here at the Naming Event adds further excitement to the new partnership with MSC Cruises as the Official Cruise Line of the Miami Dolphins.
