Dating back to 2nd millennium B.C., Naples, an MSC Mediterranean Cruises destination, is one of Italy’s ancient jewels. Boasting a vibrant historical centre set around a striking harbour bay, discover architectural landmarks, masterpiece artworks, and sumptuous food. The dormant volcano of Mount Vesuvius offers a picture-postcard backdrop. From the city, travel further afield to the archaeological site of Pompeii or take in Capri’s glamorous culture.

MSC Cruises excursions offer plenty of exciting things to see including:

• Pompeii
• Capri
• Sorrento

Discover the archaeological site of Pompeii which lingers in the shadow of majestic Mount Vesuvius. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this ancient Roman city was buried under pumice and ash during the volcanic eruption of 79 AD.  Today, Pompeii looks frozen in time, offering glimpses of fossilised people, preserved baths, crumbling columns, and fabulous frescoes. On this MSC Cruises excursion, you’ll explore the many artefacts retrieved before going on a guided-tour of the excavation site where you’ll learn more about the city’s history.

After a short ferry cruise across the Bay of Naples, you’ll come to Capri, one of the most beautiful islands in Italy. This MSC Cruises excursion begins with a visit to the charming town of Anacapri with its magnificent Villa San Michele and dramatic clifftop scenery. Take in the colourful houses, admire the lush gardens, and soak up the island's laid-back atmosphere. Then, explore the cafes and boutiques around Piazza Umberto I before visiting the rock formation Faraglioni.

After disembarking from the ship, a 1 hour coach transfer to the stunning coastal town of Sorrento. Starting from piazza Tasso, walk through the narrow streets of this historic city filled with landmarks built hundreds of years ago. Look forward to marvellous outside views of the 15th-century Sedil Dominova building, the originally 11th-century Sorrento Cathedral and the 14th-century Church of San Francesco and its adjoining cloister.
