    Hawaii

Palm fringed beaches and ravishing islands

Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii is an archipelago of seven islands and is part of the United States. The capital is Honolulu, located on the island of Oahu, where there is also the Waimea Beach Park: an endless white sandy beach lapped by seemingly calm crystal clear waters, in which spectacular sea turtles swim undisturbed. In winter, in fact, the waves can reach up to 15 metres high and the beach is a popular destination for surfers from around the world.

When on Oahu, it is respectful to visit Pearl Harbor, the U.S. naval base that was completely destroyed by the Japanese on 7 December 1941, during the Second World War, and today the site of a national monument to commemorate the tragic event. Another must in the county of Honolulu is a trip to the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden: volcanic peaks surrounded by wild nature and a lake where animals roam in peace.

Another interesting place is the Valley of Temples, which houses, not far from Kanehoe, Buddhist temples, churches and even a cemetery.
